SP8 Conference will take place at the beautiful city of Strasbourg, France, symbolic capital of Europe, and seat of several major European institutions. Thanks to the richness and sheer density of its heritage sites, its entire historic town centre, surrounded by two arms of the River Ill ‒ and so-called Big Island ‒ has been listed as UNESCO World Heritage since 1988.
Organised around its monumental cathedral, the historic Big Island of Strasbourg contains a remarkable monumental ensemble and exemplifies medieval cities with tight network of streets as well as reflects the evolution of Strasbourg from the 15th to the 18th centuries.
SP8 Conference venue is the Pavillon Joséphine located in the heart of the Orangerie Park, a stone's throw from the European Institutions, and extremely well-connected just a few minutes away from the historic city centre.
Pavillon Joséphine : Orangerie Park, Avenue de l'Europe, 67000 Strasbourg, France.
The Orangerie Park dates from the middle of the 18th century, expanded into an English-style park in the 19th century. It has lovely mature trees, lots of broad green areas for relaxation, many walking/cycling paths and a navigable lake.
In the heart of the Park, was built the Josephine Pavilion (Josephine Lodge) dedicated to Empress Josephine de Beauharnais by her Imperial husband, Napoleon Bonaparte.
